Group Clinic at Chestnut Mountain (Berm Park)
Intermediate / Advanced Technical Trail Riding: Feel like you are “stuck” with your trail riding? Do you feel like a passenger on the bike, just reacting to terrain? Do you want to feel more like a driver of the bike, able to initiate movements in technical terrain on demand as you need them?
This clinic is designed to help you break out of your intermediate level trail rider plateau. We’ll dive into the skills needed to tackle technical trail features with intentional control, allowing you to tackle roots, rocks, steeps, and off-camber trails with confidence.
Topics Included:
How to achieve a better centered position for maximum stability and mobility
Initiating small movements like wheel lifts or pressing through the feet to smooth out the trail.
Using rotation and angulation to make small (or big) changes in momentum and direction.
How to use better trail scanning techniques to be prepared for multiple obstacles in a row.

This clinic is appropriate for riders who are comfortable on intermediate (blue) to advanced (black) rated trails.
Perfect for riders who feel like they are “stuck” in the classic intermediate plateau. You’re pretty proficient at surviving Blue and Black rated trails, but aren’t progressing anymore.
Riders who want to feel more confident, stable, and in control. Let’s move from “surviving” to “driving” in technical terrain.

The Lead instructor for this clinic will be our Head Coach, Josh Whitmore, a certified Level 3 “AIR and TECH Instructor” through the PMBIA with over 25 years experience teaching mountain bike lessons. Read Josh’s full profile

We’ll start with an intro to listen to your previous experience and goals, then set expectations and a plan for the clinic
Then, we’ll move into a skills assessment and introduce some of the foundation skills to be a good technical trail rider.
We’ll make the pedal up to the Berm Park zone to work with some of those concepts on those trails before we head up higher on the mountain to find technical terrain to session on Lady Bird, Wildcat, or Champion Trails.
Expect a lot of pedaling!
