Private Lessons for Jumps or Drops at Chestnut Mountain Nature Park

Gateway to Berm Park

Mountain Bike Private Lesson for Jumps or Drops at Chestnut Mountain Nature Park (Berm Park)

Jumps: Taking flight on one of Berm Park’s finely crafted jump lines or backcountry trails farther up Chestnut Mountain is some of the most fun you can have on a bike. Want to learn how? Our “Air” certified instructors will guide you through the fundamentals of how to get those wheels off the ground in a safe, intentional, and controlled way.

Drops: Looking to tackle the natural drops at Chestnut Mountain or eyeing up the rock drops on Union or Champion trails? A private lesson is the perfect way to guide you through the techniques to handle different height drops, at different speeds, with intention and control.

  • Choose this lesson if you are looking for private instruction specifically for Jumps or Drops.

All level riders can take this lesson, whether this is your first time getting your tires off the ground or if you have regularly been riding jump lines (like Berm Park) but want to jump with more control or style!

Choose one of our other private lessons for trail riding if you want to work on things like cornering, handling more technical trails, or the essentials like body position, braking, etc.

  • This lesson requires the instructor to be a certified “Level 2 AIR Instructor” (or above) through the PMBIA. This means they have gone through specific training and evaluation on teaching advanced level riders in advanced level terrain including Jumps and Drops.

Certifications ensure instructors follow proven teaching techniques, excellent risk management, and ability to offer accurate feedback to help you progress in a safe, intentional, and controlled way.

You can choose between our Head Coach - Josh Whitmore for more advanced jumps and learning how more style like whips or tables. Our other certified instructors are great at intro to jumping and more intermediate level jumpers.

    • We’ll start by listening to your specific goals, do a skills assessment to understand your current ability, then design a custom lesson that will help you reach your goals.

    • Depending on your starting ability, we may spend some time in the grass field or at Berm Park working on basics, but aim to get practicing on trails pretty quickly

    • We spend a lot of time practicing on the green and blue trails at Chestnut like Bearcountry, Lady Bird, and Wildcat (minus the air drops).

    • Expect LOTS of practice time, drills, and plenty of feedback/video analysis to help you progress.
